Hagia Sophia.
Hagia Sophia, 6th century; originally without minarets; converted to a Mosque the day Istanbul was conquered by the Turks.

Obelisk.
Granite obelisk at the Hippodrome, Istanbul.
It was brought from the temple of Karnak (on the river Nile, Egypt) by the Roman emperor Thedosius.

Mosque courtyard.

Cistern Columns.
Inside the (underground) Cistern Basilica, Istanbul.
The Byzantine cistern supplied water to the city during barbarian attacks and sieges.
It still cotains water but visitors walk around on elevated pathways.
